2011

The majority of the films in competition this year are made by young filmmakers (under 30 years of age). Although age was not a criteria, this is an exciting revelation—that young Bhutanese filmmakers are just waiting for a platform and an outlet to unleash their vision and energy. We know 2 films in particular, the Little Rockstar and Before Happiness were actually made with Beskop Tschehu in mind. It was deeply fulfilling to know that this very festival inspired two aspiring filmmakers to go out and make a film. The other films are part of university projects in India and the Philippines, from Bhutanese who had studied abroad, and never had an outlet to show their work.
